    Dr. Kristen Rezak hails from upstate New York.  She completed her undergraduate training at Binghamton University, State University of New York, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  She then went on to complete her medical education at Ross University Medical School, graduating with High Honors.  While at Ross University, Dr. Rezak received an award for scoring in the top tenth percentile on all 3 steps of the medical boards.  She completed a full residency training in General Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital on Long Island, NY and was nominated administrative chief resident during her final year.  During her fourth year, Dr. Rezak was awarded the David J. Kreis Jr., MD Award for excellence in clinical services in trauma surgery. 

    Dr. Rezak then completed one of only a few nationwide fellowships in Post- Bariatric Body Contouring Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center through Harvard Medical School.  During her fellowship, Dr. Rezak became an Associate Editor of The Atlas of Body Contouring After Massive Weight Loss, a textbook on post-bariatric surgical techniques for medical professionals published in 2010.

    Dr. Rezak completed her training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Florida.  She wrote numerous articles on breast reconstruction, congenital pediatric disorders and body contouring surgery; which were published in peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals.

    After a few years of private practice in Florida, Dr. Rezak decided to pursue additional training in microsurgical free flaps by completing a fellowship in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Pittsburgh, UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

    Dr. Rezak is an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center with offices in Durham and Raleigh, NC.  Her practice covers all aspects of plastic surgery, including cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, with a special interest in gender affirmation surgery, breast reconstruction and microsurgical free flaps.

    Dr. Rezak is licensed to practice in North Carolina.   She is double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and American Board of Surgery.  She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has memberships in the Association of Women Surgeons, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.
